When selecting expansion valves and TXVs, verify refrigerant type (R410A, R32, R454B, R22, R134a, CO₂), tonnage or BTU rating, evaporating temperature range, connection size, equalization type, bleed/non-bleed design and OEM compatibility. The correct valve sizing and configuration are critical for stable superheat, low compressor risk and consistent comfort.

Pro tip: After installing or replacing a TXV, always check and fine-tune superheat under design conditions. Incorrect superheat settings lead to poor efficiency, nuisance freeze-ups or compressor damage over time.
